Be an explorer.

Service is a way of life for us and the hands-on experience we get at school sets the tone for the way we serve our communities as adults in the real world. We're asked to commit 12 hours of service a year for every year we're at SMS, but most of us go way beyond that. Why? Because it feels good to help. Some of the ways we give back include teaching art to kids, helping at the local women's shelter or cleaning up the river with the Friends of the Rappahannock organization. And if you're already involved in community service back home, let us know and we'll find a way to make those hours count toward your SMS requirement.
